I just don't understand these lines. Are the Asians betting down the underdogs at this early stage??? I have to go with the powerhouses here as this is a crucial stage for this level in the CL. There are 2 matches left after this week's matches so the top teams will want to put some distance between themselves and the lower teams.

These games will be played on Tuesday (Nov. 1) and Wednesday (Nov. 2) and will start at 2:43 pm EST.

Chelsea/Real Betis over 2 and 2.5 +110 (10bet)
For those of you who don't have 10bet.com as a book, wait until this line comes out at your book. Even though Chelsea is on the road I expect them to beat this struggling Betis team. Plus we get positive points on the line.

Chelsea -0.5 +115 over Real Betis (Pinnacle)
I still don't understand the +115 part of this line. Chelsea is playing well both on the road and at home and beat Betis 4-0 in their recent previous match. As I mentioned above, Chelsea wants to distance themselves so they can clinch this round early.

Lyon pk and -0.5 +125 over Olympiakos (Pinnacle)
Here's another line with plus points. Lyon will be especially mad this week as they lost their first match of the year against Nantes in the French Cup. They will want to get back on the winning side by handling a weaker Olympiakos team.

Loving the OVER on the chelsea game, the other 2, not much, I think Oly atr home is strong, but I will really look into them tomorrow, cause if you see value in them, it must be for a reason!

Don't know about Lyon to win here Q, do like Chelsea though. Lyon is in a commanding position and is almost a lock to move ahead to the knockout stage. They had a tough time with Olympiakos at home, and I really just see a draw here

Good points HW. I think that is why Chelsea and Lyon are only at -0.5 or so and positive odds. However they are not quite in a lock just yet so I believe they will want to salt this one away.

On a related note, Betis is now at +0.5 +100. Those who may have bet Chelsea -0.5 at +115 you have a scalp. Step to the window to collect your winnings. I would suggest waiting to see how this number settles though since I still think Chelsea -0.5 is the bet here.

Forgot to mention:

Those who don't feel comfortable with Lyon at -0.5 can bet 1/2 unit on Lyon +160 and 1/2 unit on the draw at +220.

Here are the specifics for Lyon:

The top 2 finishers of each group go on to the knock-out round. The fourth-placed team gets eliminated. The 3rd place team goes to a 3rd round of elimination.

Lyon currently has 9 points while last-place Olympiakos has 0. If Lyon gets 1 point (ties=1 point, wins=3 points) they are guaranteed at least a 3rd-place finish since Olympiakos cannot catch them with 2 wins in the remaining 2 matches. However, Lyon does not want to have to go to the 3rd round to qualify. They want to be in the top 2 to get the automatic entry into the knock-out round.

The line on Chelsea has moved to (-0.5) -114 but this still seems too good to be true.

Looks like Chelsea has Duff back for this match. Betis is now at +0.5 +106.

Rangers/Artmedia under 2.5 -143 (Mrbookmaker)
Last time these 2 met it ended in a 0-0 draw. Artmedia has only scored in 1 out of their last 6 CL matches.

Fenerebache/Schalke over 2.5 -119 (Pinnacle)
These 2 teams are first and third in the number of points scored in this round.

Anderlecht/Liverpool under 2.5 -125 (several books)
Two of the lowest-scoring teams in the competition. Liverpool has really been struggling as they have only scored 6 goals in their last 7 matches. All 3 of Anderlecht's CL matches have ended in 0-1 losses.

Anderlecht -1 and -1.5 -114 over Liverpool (Pinnacle)
Tough to win by 1.5 when you are having trouble scoring.

chris:

Schalke's coach was interviewed saying his team needs a win here. I wasn't sure enough about the spread so I went with the over. These 2 teams can score.

I'll try to get more info on the player for Milan.

Any updated news? What's the best bet? Thanks

Whenever I make a pick for best bet it seems to lose. That being said, I am partial to Chelsea here. They will want a win to distance themselves from the others in their group to make it easier in future games.

I think the reason this line was at + numbers is because Chelsea has not won a CL match in Spain in quite a long time, I think it is 5 straight matches. I believe this team is a bit better than previous teams. They also have Damien Duff back for this match. He is one of their highest scoring players.

i am not totally confident about the schalke total...schalke has to win, but htey have struggled big time in league lately, not able to score at all. istanbul has their captain suspended, which should give them a different look than in the past and is a reason IMO they would be satisfied with a draw. i am a little bit afrais of a schalke 1-0 or 2-0 win by going with the total. i like my chances better with the side play

The latest from goal.com

Ancelotti welcomes back Andriy Shevchenko, who has missed the last three games through injury. However, he will wait until the last minute before deciding whether Sheva starts on the pitch or the bench.

gl today guys.

Great odds on Chelsea early Q. Actually thinking of taking some Betis at +110 now. But I think its just about a 50/50 so works out both ways. Despite the thrashing Betis looked good for the first 30 minutes and were really creating some good opportunities and keeping possesion well. Actually might just take them outright for a small bet as they really need a victory to have realistic hopes of advancing.

Also like Schalke, PSV and the over and the Anderlect/Liverpool Over. Watched Liverpool this weekend and it appears they finally are looking like a decent team, created a lot of opportunites in the 2-0 win. Anderlect are all but elminated and you think they will play some attractive football and try for that elusive first goal in the competition.

chris, you were right about Schalke. Betis did well to contain Chelsea. See what I mean about picking favorites?

Betis 1, Chelsea 0 -2.00
Lyon 4, Oly 1 +1.25
Rangers 2, Artmedia 2 -1.00
Schalke 2, Feberbache 0 -1.00
Liverpool 3, Anderlecht 0 -2.00

So far: -4.75 (ouch!)

More for tomorrow.

Gotta keep on going in spite of what happened today. Hopefully these will come through.

Rapid/Brugge under 2.5 -143 (several books)
Rapid has yet to score in this round while Brugge has scored 2 goals.

Man Utd./Lille under 2.5 -154 (several books)
Lille has not gone over 2.5 in their last 7 matches. Man Utd. is in a turmoil over their poor performance last weekend and has not scored well in the CL this round. They will also be missing several players such as Paul Scholes (suspended), Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville.
